Time series
This web page shows time-series data of simulated discharge from a historical simulation with the Niger-HYPE 2.0 model for the years 1980 to 2009. The simulation uses the WFDEI dataset of historical precipitation and temperature as forcing data.
Select the sub-basin you are interested in by clicking in the map. The selected subbasin will be highlighted in green and the upstream area in yellow.
Clicking the "View chart" button displays a chart of simulated discharge time-series for the selected sub-basin. The red line in the chart represents the discharge values for one year. Above the chart there are buttons for selecting which year to display.
The blue field in the background gives an indication of how discharge varies between years for each day of the year. This is done by visualizing all values for all the years in the time period. The top edge of the blue field represents the highest value for any year that day. The bottom edge represents the lowest value for any year that day. The median value is in the middle of the darkest blue field. Between the median and the edges each change in darkness level represents the value for one of the years in the period.
